Are appointments virtual?

Yes. All appointments are virtual, allowing you to meet from a comfortable, private location. Your appointment confirmation will provide the secure video instructions you need. You must be physically located in a state where Anthony is authorized to provide care at the time of your visit.

Who do you work with?

Sunshine Supportive Solutions provides individualized nutrition counseling for adults. Support may be appropriate for weight management, diabetes or prediabetes, heart and kidney health, digestive concerns, GLP-1 nutrition, healthy cooking, meal planning, and general wellness. Your needs and location will be reviewed to confirm that virtual nutrition care is an appropriate fit.

What happens during the first appointment?

Your first appointment is a collaborative conversation about your health history, current eating patterns, lifestyle, food preferences, challenges, and goals. Initial visits booked through an insurance platform may be approximately 90 minutes; independent self-pay visits are offered in the selected 30- or 60-minute format. You will leave with practical priorities and next steps tailored to your real life.

How should I prepare for my appointment?

You do not need to track every bite or prepare perfect answers. If available, have a current medication and supplement list, recent laboratory results, relevant medical information, and the questions you most want answered. Complete any required intake forms through the secure platform before your visit, and join from a quiet, private location with a reliable internet connection.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. Many insurance plans may cover nutrition counseling, sometimes with no out-of-pocket cost. Fay or Berry Street will collect the information needed to check benefits and determine whether Anthony participates with your plan in your state. Coverage is never guaranteed until your individual benefits are verified, and deductibles, copays, visit limits, referral rules, or diagnosis requirements may apply.

What is the difference between Fay and Berry Street?

Fay and Berry Street are separate secure platforms used for insurance eligibility, scheduling, forms, and billing. Available states and participating insurance plans differ between the two, so use the option that lists your location and coverage. If you are unsure which platform fits—or neither shows a workable time—contact Anthony directly for help.

What if Fay or Berry Street does not show a time that works?

Please contact Anthony directly by email or phone and include your state, time zone, preferred days or times, and whether you plan to use insurance or self-pay. Do not include diagnoses, medical records, or insurance ID numbers in ordinary email or text. Anthony will review availability across his calendars and make every effort to find a suitable appointment time.

Are self-pay appointments available?

Yes. Independent self-pay appointments are available directly through Sunshine Supportive Solutions: $50 for 60 minutes or $25 for 30 minutes. Qualifying new self-pay clients may receive the limited-time $20 introductory-session offer. Contact Anthony first to confirm a time; you will then receive the appropriate private Square payment instructions.

Can I use an HSA or FSA card?

HSA and FSA cards are accepted only for eligible independent self-pay services—not for appointments billed through insurance, Fay, or Berry Street. IRS rules generally require nutrition counseling to treat a specific condition diagnosed by a physician rather than general wellness alone. Your plan administrator makes the final eligibility decision and may request an itemized receipt or Letter of Medical Necessity, so confirm your plan's requirements before paying.

Do I need a physician referral?

Many clients can schedule without a physician referral, but the answer depends on your insurance plan, state, and medical needs. Some plans require a referral, qualifying diagnosis, prior authorization, or other documentation before they will cover nutrition counseling. Fay or Berry Street can help identify insurance-related requirements during benefit verification.

Will I have to follow a strict diet?

No. The goal is not perfection, punishment, or a one-size-fits-all meal plan. Together, you and Anthony will build realistic strategies around your health needs, culture, preferences, cooking ability, schedule, budget, and access to food. Recommendations are adjusted over time based on what is actually working for you.

Can you help me while I am taking a GLP-1 medication?

Yes. Nutrition counseling can help you prioritize protein, hydration, fiber, and adequate overall intake while navigating appetite changes or common gastrointestinal side effects. Support also focuses on preserving lean body mass and building habits that remain useful over time. Medication prescribing and adjustments remain the responsibility of your prescribing clinician.

Will I receive a meal plan?

Meal-planning support is available when it fits your goals and care plan. Depending on your needs, you may receive personalized meal ideas, recipes, grocery guidance, shopping lists, trackers, or educational resources. These tools are designed to make our recommendations easier to use—not to create another rigid set of rules.

Can I communicate with you between appointments?

Yes. Reasonable between-session communication supports follow-through, questions, and adjustments. Use the secure messaging method connected with your care whenever health information is involved. Ordinary email, text, and social media should be limited to general questions or scheduling and should not include private medical or insurance information.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Life happens, and Sunshine Supportive Solutions does not charge a cancellation or rescheduling fee. Please give as much notice as possible so the time may be offered to another client. If you booked through Fay or Berry Street, make the change through that platform or contact Anthony for assistance.

How do I schedule an appointment?

For insurance-based care, choose Fay or Berry Street, complete the benefit check, and select an available appointment. For independent self-pay care, contact Anthony first with your preferred days, times, time zone, state, and payment preference; after availability is confirmed, you will receive private Square instructions. If no online time works, reach out directly and Anthony will make every effort to find a time for you to meet.
